About the Department

 

The Retail function provides Personal and Business Banking customers with financial solutions tailored to their needs. We help them manage their money wisely and meet their financial goals through an extensive range of products and services. These include deposit, insurance, secured and unsecured loans, investment and wealth advisory services.

 

Personal Financial Services

We design and provide products and services that empower our customers to enjoy greater banking convenience while they extract more value from their money. In particular, we are focused on promoting and developing healthy saving and investment practices across generations.

 

Job Responsibilities

New model development

  • Work closely with model end-users and other key stakeholders (e.g., Business Analyst, Data and Ops Engineer, GC) to identify additional areas which require analytics support or future model build and include those models in development pipeline
  • Develop model narratives (e.g., purpose, logic, parameters, data requirements, output surfacing / structuring) in collaboration with the business and other relevant stakeholders
  • Work closely with other Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Business Analysts, and undertake the end-to-end FCR model development, including data wrangling, exploratory data analysis, feature selection, model selection, training, testing, etc.
  • Build a range of models (rule-based, supervised / unsupervised models, etc.) on structured, semi-structured, and/or unstructured data if needed
  • Design and implement FCR detection models, rules, algorithms and dashboards to enhance the bank's AML/Fraud prevention capabilities where applicable.

Support model maintenance

  • Liaise with Business Analyst to receive and understand business feedback on model performance and incorporate feedback into models
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify, evaluate and monitor emerging FCR trends and risks for enhancement into relevant models
  • Re-train and recalibrate existing FCR analytical models to prevent model drift periodically or as needed

Special projects

  • Support special / high-priority projects, including building FCR analytical capabilities in response to external (e.g., regulatory) requests or internal intelligence, or based on gaps identified for existing analytical capabilities / models
  • Communicate with Business Analyst to understand new regulatory requirements / policy updates relating to the areas / risks covered by the FCR analytical models and work with the relevant teams to ensure that these updates are appropriately reflected in those models

Model Governance & Strategy

  • Support the Head of Customer Franchise & Analytics or delegates in development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive FCR Analytics strategy to identify, assess, and mitigate AML/Fraud risks across the organization.
  • Identify enhancements to existing model governance policies and processes, particularly in relation to newly built models
  • Participate in the model governance process, including but not limited to model testing, assessing models for biases and for compliance with applicable ethics standards
  • Develop and implement FCR model development policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Assist in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry good practices related to FCR prevention and detection
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the FCR analytics program and recommend improvements as needed
  • Keep abreast with the latest, cutting-edge developments in data science and advanced analytics and recommend adoption of best practices in relation to FCR

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional certifications would be preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least 8 years in FCR analytics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various business units and functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities to inspire and influence team members to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Good experience in developing and implementing FCR analytics strategies and solutions are a plus.
  • Able to instill strong Model Governance throughout the model development cycle.
  • Strong project management skills with significant experience in leading large- scale analytics projects.
  • Strong knowledge of financial services regulations, industry best practices, and emerging fraud trends.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

 

Technical skills

  • Fluency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, R, SQL and SAS.
  • Relevant experience in working with large and complex data sets and developing machines learning solutions, preferably on an enterprise data science platform such as CDSW / CML and ML Ops equivalent preferable as well.
  • Good foundational knowledge in statistical and advanced analytics concepts such as hypothesis testing, A/B testing, sampling, and evaluation metrics.
  • Familiarity with one or more BI and dashboarding tool such as Qlik, Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow / PyTorch and big data technologies such as Hadoop / Spark/ Impala /Hive is an advantage.
  • Excellent data visualization and communication skills to present findings and insights to different stakeholders, including non-technical business users.
