About the Department
Risk Management is responsible for managing the risks arising from the business activities and ensuring these risks remain within the overall risk appetite established by the Board and Senior Management. This involves identifying and evaluating the risks and developing effective risk governance and strategies to manage them. Risk Management is organised according to the management of material risk types i.e. credit risk, market risk, balance sheet risk and operational risk. This allows us to develop and to leverage on specialised knowledge and skills required for the effective management of risks.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and oversight UOB Thailand Operational Risk Management division
- Ensure that Operational Risk Appetite Statement is properly determined, and related actions are initiated immediately when trigger/appetite level is met
- Facilitate and provide support and guidance to Business/Support units in the development of their operational risk profiles, day to day operational risk management, conduct of operational risk self-assessments and development of key operational risk indicators
- Ensure that Operational Risk Management Framework & Policies are operating properly and regulatory reviewed
- Report existing and new or emerging operational risks to business managers, Senior Management and relevant committee(s) for their attention and/or incorporation into their operational risk profiles
- Provide advices and perform assurance testing on Business/Support Units key controls that are documented in the Key Risk and Control Self-Assessment
- Provide oversight and independent review and challenge on inputs from Business/Support units in all ORM programs
- Provide oversight, advice and guidance to Business/Support units on managing their third party and insourcing risk
- Drive Risk Culture strategy and related activities and oversee the conduct risk for the bank
- Manage the Bank’s insurance policies, review the adequacy of insurance policies coverage for the Bank’s operations
- Prioritize work of the team on short, medium and long term taking into account unforeseen events
- Act as the liaison with Group UOB Non-Financial Risk Management in Singapore
- Conduct relevant operational risk management trainings
- Ensure relevant regulatory compliance and report submissions
- Involve in various management committees as member or secretariat
- Face off audits and lead regulatory, compliance and business monitoring reviews
- Strengthen the culture of controls and maintain operational awareness across the bank
- Drive change in the way ORM performs its activities in order to increase overall effectiveness (automation, simplification, etc.)
- Perform as required other ad hoc assignments in relation with Operational Risk Management
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Accounting / Finance or related areas.
- At least 10 - 12 years working experience in a bank or financial institution, particularly in Operational Risk Management and Audit Field
- A good understanding of process controls to help resolve control failures and challenge proposed control improvements
- Good understanding of financial products
- Good understanding of information technology
- Ability to work in a pressurized environment while keeping constructive, learning mindset
- Ability to establish and develop strong relationships with various senior leadership figures and stakeholders
- Ability to foster a collaborative working relationship with Business Unit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills both in a group settings as well as one-on-one
- Influencing skills and ability to drive initiatives to completion within the timeline
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Fluent in Thai and English, strong communication and writing skills
