About the Department
Retail Credit is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Retail Credit Policy & Process Standard, providing oversight and independent tracking and monitoring of assets quality of PFS portfolios to be within the approved risk appetite, performing quality assurance of the credit cycle as well as conducting strategic business/ portfolio risk review as and when required.
Job Responsibilities
- Cover Policy & Risk Oversight for both Secured and Unsecured and, also covering the Quality Assurance
- To govern and be a gatekeeper to ensure retail business operates within approved risk appetite, policies and delegated authority
- To initiate annual oversights on the retail credit policy at country level in reflection of the industry practice, market conditions and local regulations
- To establish proper governance process control to facilitate effective review on the product review document, credit program book, credit test and any credit policy changes.
- To formulate and continuously enhance the independent and robust retail credit PFS trackers to early detect any abnormalities observed for undertaking of escalation actions, covering the analysis on financials, asset mix and loan performance
- To independently develop and to continuously enhance MIS monitoring on any PFS retail credit policy changes, to highlight irregularities/ non-compliance risk to PFS Risk/ Business
- To actively engage with MIS & Control, PFS Risk and Business Finance sourcing for the financial/ loan performance information to facilitate oversights and ad-hoc analytic requested by senior management
- To institute proactive oversight on the end-financing post approval monitoring with intent to identify additional high-risk zones/ developers and negative locations and to trigger escalation process e.g. EF limit review / developer grading downgrades
Job Requirements
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, MBA or related areas
- Excellent understanding of banking’s credit risk, collection, product, finance and financial markets and also UOB overall business dynamics, particularly Retail Banking;
- Establishing credit guidelines and policy for the line of business;
- Strong leadership skills for constantly changing credit risk environment;
- Experiences in working with auditors, regulators and compliance;
- Expertise in project management, talent management, good interpersonal skills and influencing;
- Managing Retail Credit Risk in more than 10 years.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities with a proven track record of successfully managing a banking division or business unit
- In-depth knowledge of banking Credit Policy & Governance and regulatory requirement.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and managing a team of banking professionals.
- Fluency in English, strong communication and writing skills
- Strong presentation and negotiation skill to form and articulate the opinions and recommendations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills,with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
