About the Department
The Credit and Risk Management function is comprised of three teams: Risk Management, Credit and Special Asset Management. We manage the risks arising from the Group’s business activities within the risk appetite established by the Board. This involves identifying and evaluating the risks, developing effective risk governance and strategies as well as providing independent assessment of the overall risk profile
Job Responsibilities
Managing Credit Risk Exposure and Risk Quality
- Conduct independent credit review, assessment, evaluation and/or approval of every credit proposal originating from the Group’s Wholesale (Commercial) Banking portfolio;
- For each credit proposal, ensure material risks (credit risk, legal risk, regulatory risk, operational risk, legal risk, ESG risk etc) that will impact the repayment ability of each borrower are identified and the appropriate mitigations are incorporated to manage these risks;
- Provides an independent oversight of the rating process, and approves all rating assignments and rating reviews.
- Facilitate timely credit approval and work closely with credit teams in Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia to deliberate over the credit issues in BU’s proposals for approval.
- Monitors and reports credit risk issues to CRO, Senior Management and the relevant management committees;
- Collaborate with Country & Risk Management, Group Portfolio Management and the respective Business Units to cover portfolio reviews, stress tests and establishing underwriting parameters for new initiatives. This ensures that business and credit policies are aligned and prudent credit standards are maintained for sustainable business growth.
Credit Approval
- Exercise the personal-to-holder Credit Discretionary Limit judiciously to approve credits across the Group, including UOB Singapore, overseas branches and overseas subsidiaries, guided by the Group’s credit policy and guidelines.
Job Requirements
- Years of experience: More than 20 years of Corporate / Commercial Banking experience as a relationship manager and/or as a credit approver
- Skills: Credit Approval, Credit analysis with good knowledge across various key sectors such as manufacturing, consumer goods, real estate, construction etc, preferably with high familiarity on the regional business and credit landscape.
- Industry: Cross segment/industry experience
