About the Department

The Compliance function is a strategic partner and a trusted business enabler to the Board and senior management. It is our responsibility to ensure that the Group continuously fulfils its regulatory obligations in today’s tight and dynamic regulatory landscape. To do that, we work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and to assess regulatory risks. This collaboration also includes developing practical solutions that integrate regulations into operational requirements as well as actively shaping and promoting stronger compliance culture and literacy in the Bank.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, direct & supervise a team in conducting Compliance & Quality Assurance Reviews to identify gaps & assess Business & Support units’ compliance with in-scope Group Policies & Procedures.
  • Develop & enhance the AML Compliance Review framework & methodology, including developing / maintaining & rollout of the AML Compliance Review framework group-wide to enhance the AML controls standards.   
  • Develop & review the AML/CFT Compliance Review framework & methodology for relevancy & applicability.
  • Rollout the Compliance Review framework, including training where applicable to overseas banking entities to enhance the AML control standards across UOB Group.
  • Establish & manage the UOB SG annual compliance review work plan with optimal resource utilisation & management.  
  • Manage & oversight a team to perform Compliance & Quality Assurance Reviews according to the established approved framework, methodology & standards & to guide the Team Lead in delivering consistent & quality reports to enhance the bank’s compliance control standards.
  • Deliver concise & timely reports to convey the results of the compliance reviews to business/ senior management & presentation to AML Committee.
  • Ensure proper work paper documentation of each review.
  • Ensure that the team follow up & validate outstanding issues identified from the Compliance Reviews &/ or by the Internal/ External Auditors &/ or Regulators. Ensure all issue closures are supported by adequate documentation for audit trail. 
  • Provide guidance & oversight on the rollout of AML Control Self-Assessment for the Group.
  • Provide guidance & oversight of Quality Assurance Reviews with the objective to enhance the compliance review standards of the overseas banking entities & conduct trainings where appropriate.
  • Lead special reviews &/or overseas assignments & any ad-hoc projects as and when assigned by Function Head/ Group Compliance Management.
  • Participate in the Team’s strategic projects & initiatives as and when assigned by Function Head/ Group Compliance Management, to improve efficiency, effectiveness & productivity.
Job Requirements
  • Has a recognised Bachelor degree or its equivalent
  • Has minimum 8 years of relevant work experience preferably in audit  
  • Possesses good knowledge on AML/CFT/sanctions with professional AML-related certification being an advantage
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Possesses sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Able to coordinate and direct team members
  • Able to work on multiple assignments
