UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub 2) is a newly set up technology centre located in Kuala Lumpur as part of UOB Group Technology and Operations to deliver innovative financial technology solutions that enable business growth and technology transformation. 

About the Department

The Technology and Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance and planning support and services. We work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Singapore and overseas branches.

 

Functionally reports to the Service Build Engineering Lead under Group Infrastructure Platform Services, the Build engineer will be responsible for detail design, build, post provision support and continuously optimize and automate the end-to-end build and provisioning process in accordance to the bank standard.
This role will support and collaborate with Design, planning, solution architect, application and Development teams on infra build requirements, standards and the use, optimization and troubleshooting of all features in Oracle, SQL and Maria database & its tools. 

 

This role will participate in technical discussions to share ideas and provide feedback in continuing the improvement of the Service Build Engineering team in areas such as Optimization, automation, cost savings, technology adoption & operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oracle/SQL/ MariaDB Database software installation, upgrades and maintenance
  • Resolve build issues with database or related third party products
  • Take initiatives to enhance current workflow and process
  • Maintain database security & compliance and ensure Database is Hardened
  • Manage project timeline and issue remediation efforts
  • Take care of DB Performance Tuning, Query Optimization during build phase
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle & SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
  • Strong experience of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands
  • Handle project queries promptly, meet deadlines and co-ordinate with multiple infra teams effectively
  • Should be willing to take up any role in the team when need comes without  any hesitation

Job Requirements

  • Min. 6-9 years of experience in installation and setup from scratch of various versions of Oracle Database & Microsoft SQL Server is a MUST.
  • Strong understanding of Database architecture
  • Proven skills and experience in setting up HA/DR solution for Oracle (RAC, DG & ADG) and SQL Server (Always ON)
  • Knowledge in Operating Systems like windows and Unix
  • Experience in raising Technical SR with Oracle/ Microsoft in case of any issues/bug fixes
  • Strong Experience of RMAN, expdp/impdp
  • Experience in evaluating and installing new software releases and patches
  • Experience in developing and executing database security policies, procedures
  • Must take initiatives to automate manual Database work
  • Able to document all the process and checklists clearly and keep them up to date
  • Proven skills and experience in managing complex problem solving and incident management related to Oracle DB and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Excellent communication and mail writing skills

Added Advantage

  • Knowledge and Experience in MariaDB is an added advantage
  • Experience and Knowledge in Powershell/Shellscripting is a plus
  • Experience and Knowledge in Server Virtualization is a plus
  • Cloud knowledge is preferred
