UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub 2) is a newly set up technology centre located in Kuala Lumpur as part of UOB Group Technology and Operations to deliver innovative financial technology solutions that enable business growth and technology transformation. 

About the Department

The Technology and Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance and planning support and services. We work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Singapore and overseas branches.

Job Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer in the Compliance Technology domain, you will be part of the File and Message Filtering (FMF) team, responsible for developing and maintaining solutions that support payment message filtering and watchlist management.


You will contribute to the development, defect fixing, and support of applications that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on technical role ideal for junior developers with a strong foundation in scripting, databases, and Java, and an interest in banking and payment systems.

 

Other responsibilities include:
•    Develop, enhance, and maintain applications supporting the FMF pillar.
•    Analyze and resolve defects found in the applications.
•    Write and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts to support automation and integration tasks.
•    Perform SQL queries and updates to support application logic and reporting.
•    Collaborate with system analysts, testers, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth delivery and deployment.
•    Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
•    Support production and test environments, including troubleshooting and incident resolution.
•    Document technical specifications, deployment procedures, and support guides.
•    Escalate issues that impacts project schedule on timely basis and propose workarounds/resolutions
•    Provide timely updates and report to management.

Job Requirements

•    Proven experience in software development or support roles, preferably in banking or financial services.
•    Experience working in a Linux environment.
•    Proficient in scripting skills (Unix shell scripting or Bash or PowerShell).
•    Solid database knowledge (SQL)
•    Development experience in Java.
•    Familiarity with payment technology (SWIFT messaging and payment transaction flow), AML or compliance-related systems is a plus.
•    Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube) will be an added advantage

•    Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
•    Additional certifications in payment or compliance technology are advantageous.
•    Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. 
•    Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, regulated environment. 
•    Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams. 
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with minimal supervision.
•    Be able to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
