About the Department
UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub2) is a UOB-wholly owned subsidiary and a Centre of Excellence based in Malaysia, providing Group Business Services (GBS) to support the UOB Group. Started in 2021 with technology application design, development and support, InnoHub2 is expanding beyond technology services to deliver other business services to support the Bank’s growth ambition. Job Responsibilities
The Reconciliation Head is responsible for overseeing the reconciliation process of financial transactions and accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing a team of reconciliation officers, developing and implementing reconciliation procedures, resolving discrepancies, escalations and management reporting.
Manage Reconciliation Processes
• You will be the Reconciliation (Nostro & Custodian) lead for GWBGMO Center of Excellence.
• You will lead and oversee the daily reconciliation activities for all the Operations Centers, subsidiaries and overseas branches that CoE is supporting.
• The daily reconciliation activities will include the reconciliation of various financial accounts, including bank statements, ledger accounts, and internal financial records. Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of accounts to maintain financial integrity
• You will develop and implement standardized reconciliation procedures and policies, and continuously review and improve reconciliation processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Team Leadership
• Lead and manage a team of reconciliation specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
Discrepancy Resolution
• You will use your subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during the reconciliation process. You will perform credible challenge and independent assessment of root causes and mitigating actions for issues and incidents as well as any subsequent escalation and reporting to senior management
Internal Controls and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Monitor and manage operational risks associated with the reconciliation process.
• Adhere and support the bank Risk & Control framework through various programs which include utilizing appropriate Key Risk Controls Self-Assessment (KRCSA), Key Risk Indictors (KRI), Management Risk Awareness (MRA), Incident Reporting (IRF) and Business Continuity Management (BCM)
• Support Audit/ Regulatory engagements including coordination, communications, and required actions with management committees, internal auditors, external auditors, regulators and other internal stakeholders as appropriate
Reporting and Analysis
• Prepare regular reports on reconciliation activities, including identified discrepancies and resolutions. Analyze reconciliation data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
Stakeholder Communication
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, finance teams, and regulatory bodies. Provide support and information during audits and regulatory reviews.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree holder with more than 8 years of experience working in Banking & Financial services industry, out of which at least 5 years’ experience in an operation environment
• Preferably with Wholesale Banking or Global Markets or Custody products processes/ application systems/ data management knowledge
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation processes and financial controls
• Good knowledge and understanding on operational risk management and financial industry regulations
• Previous management or supervisory experience is highly desirable.
• A team player, strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively, under pressure, in a rapid changing environment, as well as autonomously and as an effective member of a dynamic team.
• Possesses good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-driven, meticulous and able to operate expeditiously to deliver results and meet tight timelines
