About the Department
Established in 1986, UOB Asset Management (UOBAM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Overseas Bank. Headquartered in Singapore, UOBAM has grown extensively across Asia with local presence in Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Our network includes UOB Islamic Asset Management in Malaysia and a joint venture with China’s Ping An Trust to form Ping An Fund Management Company. Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Head of Risk Management of UOBAM, the successful candidate will join a team responsible for providing regional risk and performance oversight and analysis within UOBAM Group. The team’s vision is to add value to our investment and business processes and ultimately support and secure the sustainability of our business growth and strategic objectives in a risk-aware and controlled manner.
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Implement, maintain, improve, and communicate an enterprise-wide risk management framework, risk policies, and guidelines, and roll them out across subsidiaries.
- Review the risk-return profiles of our funds and portfolios and recommend appropriate risk parameters and performance targets.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on investment portfolios to identify drivers of risk and performance.
- Ensure adequate end-to-end process and tools are in place to monitor and control risk-taking activities against pre-defined parameters/limits, and proactively highlight risk and performance issues.
- Produce regular reports highlighting key risk areas, including market, credit, liquidity and environmental risk measures, and key performance trends, contributions and attribution analytics to portfolio managers, senior management, the Investment Committee and the Board.
- Perform stress tests or ad-hoc scenario analysis on assigned portfolios.
- Conduct Due Diligence on third-party managers’ funds and portfolios from investment risk and performance perspectives.
- Validate performance data and investigate inconsistencies for rectification.
- Produce and analyze ad-hoc risk and performance reports to support the Business Development team and Investment team.
- Work closely with the Investment team and Business Development team in shaping the firm’s investmentprocess and product development.
- Participate in user requirement studies and user acceptance tests related to risk and performance systems where necessary.
- Liaise with vendors on system requirements, data issues, and modeling.
- Collaborate with internal IT and data teams on data and system issues.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on working experience, preferably in the fund management industry as a performance and/or risk analyst. Fresh graduates with strong qualifications will be considered.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Good knowledge of investment risk management techniques and derivative instruments.
- Programming, quantitative, and database skills, with experience in Python, VBA, SQL, and Access preferred.
- CFA/FRM or Financial Engineering qualifications will be an advantage.
- Ability to initiate and see through process improvement initiatives to enhance work efficiency and productivity.
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight time constraints, and be a good team player.
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Previous experience with systems such as FactSet and Morningstar will provide an advantage.
