About the Department
Group Technology and Operations (GTO) provides software and system development, information technology support services and banking operations.
We have centralized and standardized the technology components into Singapore, creating a global footprint which can be utilized for supporting our regional subsidiaries and the branches around the world. We operate and support 19 countries with this architecture to provide a secure and flexible banking infrastructure.
Our Operations divisions provide transactional customer services for our businesses while also focusing on cost efficiency through process improvements, automation and straight through processing.
Job Responsibilities
As part of a major investment programme to support the TB business growth agenda over the next few years, a significant transformation is planned for the current cash processing and channels platforms.
Reporting to the head of TB technology, this technical solution architect role will drive the TB payments and channels solution architecture and design process, including:
• Defining the payments and channels technical solution architecture roadmap, and supporting the various delivery teams in their implementation efforts
• building out a TB solution architecture and design capability and team, and manage this as a function/chapter across the multiple TB delivery teams
• represent the TB technology domains and ensure full alignment with UOB’s Enterprise Architecture function.
Key responsibilities include:
• Serve as domain architect to implement an updated technology foundation for the bank with full capability /accountability for architecture deliverables (process, information, technology etc.) from concept to implementation
• Analyzing stakeholder requirements, current state architecture, and gaps to create a future state payments and channels solution architecture with a focus on reduced complexity, cost efficiencies, reduced risk and/or improved business capabilities
• Communicate and influence key elements of one or more technology architectures to both technical and business audiences
• Contributing to architecture definition and road map in Transaction Banking domain especially operations re-engineering and digitization
• Build out the knowledge base of the TB technology teams on leading trends in the APAC payments and channels domains, and IT delivery in general.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders in both business and IT to assist in defining and delivering high quality solutions
Job Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
• At least 15 years’ experience in the IT industry, preferably in large, complex enterprises
• At least 10 years of experience in wholesale/transaction banking technology, including familiarization with digitization (Payments, Receivables, Collections, Loan Origination, Remittance, Escrow, Liquidity Management, Pricing)
• At least 5 years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture in a large, complex, multi-location, multi-national environment
• Experience in Converting EA Strategy into executable solution architecture
• Deep experience delivering mission critical, enterprise scale IT solutions in a heterogeneous technology environment, both in-house built and 3rd party vendor products
• Experience in actual systems development work, with prior coding, functional specifications and technical specifications and systems development and testing experience (in aggregate no less than 8 years)
• Understanding of at least one programming language, preferably in the Java family.
• A deep understanding of all domains of Enterprise Architecture, including the business, data, application, infrastructure and security domains. Able to constructively challenge Enterprise and Solution Architecture for a fault tolerant design.
• Familiarity with one or more formal Architecture frameworks / methodologies (TOGAF, Zachman, BIAN, etc.)
• Good understanding and experience in various software development cycle methodologies, including migrating from waterfall to agile methodologies.
• Broad based IT knowledge and experience (Hardware, Software, Middleware, Databases). Solid foundation in service-oriented technologies to be able to understand service interdependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems
• Good Understanding of Technology Taxonomy (Functional Disposition, Deployment, Performance, Integration Protocols)
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to communicate complex topics in an understandable way using a level of detail and terms appropriate to the situation
• Capability to think conceptually and identify patterns across seemingly unrelated situations
• Must be a good team player and able to influence, and drive consensus amongst stakeholders with conflicting viewpoints and objectives
• Ability to effectively communicate, interact with and influence senior technical associates, business and operational partners and executives
• Work effectively within a fast-paced, cohesive architecture team and willing to learn fast and adapt quickly to change

• Collections
o Direct Debit/Giro Initiation, Direct Debit Mandates, Invoice Matching / Receivables, Bill Payments, Virtual Accounts, Inward Transfers
• Financial Messaging / H2H solutions
• ERP Integration (Supplier, Manufacturer and Distributor)
Education
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or similar domain
• Related professional/technical qualification will be advantageous although not mandatory
