About the Department

The Compliance function is a strategic partner and a trusted business enabler to the Board and senior management. It is our responsibility to ensure that the Group continuously fulfils its regulatory obligations in today’s tight and dynamic regulatory landscape. To do that, we work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and to assess regulatory risks. This collaboration also includes developing practical solutions that integrate regulations into operational requirements as well as actively shaping and promoting stronger compliance culture and literacy in the Bank.

Job Responsibilities

Model validation

  • Conduct independent validation of Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) models, guided by validation standards set by the bank, documenting all findings and recommendations to address identified gaps in a comprehensive report
  • Review further action by model owners on areas of attention identified in previous validations
  • Assess the soundness of model design, development steps and data used for model development. Review codes used in model development and implementation for accuracy and consistency with documented approach
  • Present validation findings, in simple layman terms, to management and stakeholders
  • Partner regional teams to monitor model performance and prepare reports for senior management on a regular basis
  • Participate and contribute to discussions on refinements to model validation standards

 Team contributions

  • Support the validation team lead in defining and maintaining minimum standards of model performance, applicable at the time of model development and tracked in subsequent validation exercises
  • Keep up to date with changes to regulatory requirements, recommendations and industry standards in analytics and management of AFC risks, and propose updates to minimum standards of model development (in discussion with validation team lead)
  • Support validation team lead in planning of validation calendar
  • Where required, provide review on tools / system enhancements required to perform model validation

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field, with 5 –8 years of experience in analytics / technology domain, and preferably 2 –3 years of experience in advanced data analytics
  • Prior experience working on large-scale analytics projects
  • Experience in or familiarity with analytics related to AFC/AML/compliance risks
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical results or findings in an easy-to-understand manner and tailoring them to different audiences
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects

 

Technical skills

  • R and / or Python for data science, with practical knowledge of data wrangling and machine learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, Keras, Tensorflow, Sklearn)
  • Proficiency in querying and visualization tools such as SQL and Qlik will be an advantage
  • Comfortable working with structured and unstructured data and distributed databases
  • Familiar with natural language processing and network link analysis
  • Familiar with model development and validation best practices
