The Wholesale Bank function operates a dynamic business model that provides financial services and solutions to help our clients achieve their strategic business objectives. Our mission is to become the premier-provider of banking services and solutions for Asia-based commercial banking companies (small medium enterprises), large corporations, financial institutions as well as multinational corporations. Our coverage teams work in full alignment with specialised teams across Transaction Banking, Investment Banking, Global Markets and Group Retail to deliver seamless solutions to our clients.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join the Group Wholesale Banking (GWB) – AFC & BRCM team. The successful candidate will support the team head in strengthening risk governance and ensuring compliance with anti-financial crime regulations across Singapore and overseas locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Governance & Compliance

  • Formulate and strengthen governance on all risk frameworks, policy, framework, ensuring that GWB comply with all applicable legislations, particularly in relation to anti-financial crimes.
  • Ensure that potential risk issues highlighted by various Bank’s risk functions, such as Group Operational Risk, Group Compliance and Group Audit, are properly communicated and/or addressed within GWB.

 

Risk Identification & Mitigation

  • Identify emerging risks within GWB and the broader industry; propose and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prioritize risk reviews based on control criticality, regulatory focus, and emerging threats

 

Control Effectiveness & Advisory

  • Provide independent challenge to business units on the adequacy of existing controls.
  • Review and advise on business unit policies and guidelines to ensure alignment with risk management standards.
  • Support business and support units in risk identification, escalation, and remediation efforts

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including Group Compliance and other risk departments, to ensure coordinated and effective risk management.
  • Partner with GWB Data Analytics to drive risk initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and proactive risk detection.

 

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor the effectiveness of controls through dashboards, and scorecards (e.g., AFC, risk culture, operational risk, fair dealing).
  • Prepare risk management reports for senior management.

 

Project Management

  • Assist in the planning and execution of projects from initiation to closure.

 

Oversight & Training

  • Provide oversight and guidance to BRCM teams in overseas locations.
  • Conduct training sessions to promote risk awareness and compliance culture across the organization.

 

Governance Support

  • Secretariat support to the Management.

Job Requirements

  • Degree or professional qualification in business or banking/financial services related areas
  • Has minimum 12 years of relevant work experience preferably in audit, regulatory compliance/Line 1 Risk and Control role in corporate banking/wholesale banking of a full-service bank
  • Proven and relevant experience in compliance of a financial services institution is required
  • Strong compliance background and good knowledge/understanding of banking and financial services laws & regulations, compliance best practices and understanding of financial products & systems. Understanding of Anti-Financial Crimes regulations would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of local financial crime regulatory framework of South East Asia region and data analytics would be a clear advantage.
  • Team player, self-driven with strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to perform well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Prior experience in stakeholder management experience.
  • Resourceful, meticulous, analytical and able to work independently with excellent verbal and report-writing skills.

  • Certification in anti-financial crimes, programming, data management and data analytics is preferred
