About the Department

The Private Bank Business Risk and Controls Management (PB BRCM) function sits with the PB Business as part of 1st line of defense, under the PB COO organization. PB BRCM actively drives and maintains oversight of the front to back activities and risk profile of the PB business, in close partnership with the business and supporting control functions. The PB BRCM function has responsibility over ensuring proper management and oversight across Non-financial risk taxonomies, including Investment Suitability, AML/KYC, Anti-fraud, Conduct, Cross border activities, Data Privacy, BCM etc. The BRCM function runs various risk governances, risk assessments, controls, reviews and advisory related activities over the PB business.

As a member of Private Bank Business Risk Controls Management (PB BRCM) team, the Governance Specialist will play an important role in assisting the Head of Private Bank BRCM in driving Risk and Regulatory.

Job Responsibilities

  • Risk Framework Enhancement: Review and enhance the Private Bank risk framework and guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Regulatory Change Management: Manage and drive the implementation of regulatory changes and key risk portfolios.
  • Risk Assessments: Perform risk assessments on new regulatory updates impacting the Private Bank.
  • Governance Forums: Manage key risk governance forums, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Audit Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external audit partners on audit management.
  • Compliance Liaison: Liaise with compliance partners on Private Bank compliance reviews.
  • Special Projects: Lead special projects, thematic reviews, or investigations using analytics, particularly around key risk taxonomies (e.g., AML topics)

Job Requirements

  1. Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field within the financial services industry.
    • Proven track record in managing regulatory changes and risk assessments.
  2. Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and tools.
    • added advantage if have experience with data analytics and risk modeling 
  3. Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
    • highly proficient in MS Powerpoint and Excel work
  4. Leadership and Management:
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects, including special projects and thematic reviews.
    • Experience in managing governance forums and working with audit and compliance teams.
  5. Regulatory Knowledge:
    • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to the Private Banking sector (specific to MAS)
    • Ability to stay updated with regulatory changes and their impact on the bank.
  6. Other Requirements:
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • High ethical standards and integrity.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
